Blog fam, I’ll be absent for a little while because I’ve been asked to join the Jamaican Bobsled team! Can you believe it?!

Options, How Foreign!

A little while ago I woke up to call from a friend letting me know her mother was on the way to hospital via ambulance and could I meet them there.  Of course I got right out of bed, got myself together and headed straight there.

Lessons

Some of us grew up hearing our parents drop little tidbits of knowledge, but we think it’s ridiculous or silly. Turns out they aren’t just little tidbits, but great life lessons which are totally foreign to many. Common sense isn’t very common at all. The more I’m exposed to people, the more I realize that some people weren’t taught to have a lick of sense.  These are some of the things I grew up hearing my women folk say…

My Darling Girls,

For the life of me I can’t remember what I did before you two walked into my life. Who did I talk to about every little thing? Who did I confess to and confide in? No disrespect to any friend I’ve had before you two, but each friendship is different. You two are incredible. You’re incredible for putting up with me. You know not to take it personal when I get moody and disappear to another part of the house while you’re visiting. You know when to give me space. You know when to let me steam in my misery. When to check on me to see if I’m over whatever it is that’s pissing me off. It’s not easy to be my friend, but it’s true what they say…friends walk in when the world walks out.
